Omex customers have already asked these questions. Is yours here?
Omex is one company with two offices. One is based in the UK and is called Omex-Europe; the other is called Omex-Global and is based in the Chinese province of Guangzhou.
Omex is a company that sources goods from low cost areas of the world. Mainly from China but we can source from other areas such as India and Turkey.
Omex can source any thing currently on the market today or whatever is locked away in your imagination for the market of tomorrow.
We are currently sourcing products for a wide range of household name companies. Our current list of products includes, aerosols, filling machines, plant pots, tractors, car polish, trigger sprays, adult nappies, vending machines, labels, bathroom accessories, cosmetics, hair remover, and scissors, Jacuzzis, and bed springs. The list really is endless.
We have hundreds of manufacturers catalogues either here or in China, and there are thousands of manufacturers we can approach. Every enquiry is different; each manufacturer is a specialist in his or her own field. It really would be impossible to have a catalogue with all our items in it.
Either complete our Online Import Enquiry Form or Contact the UK office by phone or e-mail.
Give as much information to us as you can.
Sometimes we use your verbal enquiry to fill out one of our enquiry forms or we will send you one out to fill in at your convenience. Once we are sure we understand exactly what you're after we will pass it over to our China office.
Normally we will be asked to supply a component or a consumer item.
For example:
A plug in air-freshener that is blister packed to a card with 6 languages printed on it.
Components such as caps, bottles, or labels, being used by a European manufacturer; who wishes to change to a more cost effective source to drive down costs.
No. At this stage it is an enquiry only.
Once our office in Guangzhou receives the enquiry with the basic specification they will approach those companies that offer the best option for manufacturing your product.
They will then come back with a rough idea of price and minimum order quantity; and, if it’s something that is currently being made there will be a high quality jpeg picture or extract from a catalogue sent to you.
Virtually all items manufactured or sold in the West are available in China and it is a simple cost effective matter to re-brand.
We will then send those details on to you.
Please note that we will quote in US dollars.
Less than a week; unless you're after something very unusual, for example a round computer screen.
Well, are you happy with the price and minimum order quantity?
Please be aware that this a first step and this is when negotiation starts between you and the Chinese manufacturer, except that Omex is doing all the negotiation on your behalf.
Let’s say you wanted to import 50,000 dolls dressed as Father Christmas and the Chinese manufacturer said his minimum order quantity was 100,000. Omex steps in on your behalf and re-negotiates a price.
Once we know we are in the right ball-park as regards price, delivery, and order quantity we will take the next step.
If the item is expensive such as a quad bike or night vision binoculars we will sit down and talk to you as we may have to buy it!
You check the sample over and determine whether it’s what you want or close to it.
No. We are still at the enquiry stage. There is nothing on order as yet.
Yes. We can source any shape of bottle, cosmetic products, household products, or specialist cleaning products. Clamshells, blister packs, display boxes etc. We can then arrange for them to be assembled according to your specifications. Our packaging and artwork department in Guangzhou manage all this.
Obviously at this stage we are in to design and artwork etc.
This is not a problem and it can all be handled in either the UK and transferred over to China, or, in China itself.
First of all you draw up a specification that details exactly the product or item you want. We check it out and make sure we understand it and that it will translate to Chinese OK so the factory can understand it.
Next you place an official order with Omex-Europe for the quantity you need.
We then come back to you with an expected delivery date and a fixed price.
All goods from China are priced in US dollars.
We fix the price at the exchange rate when you placed the order so that if the exchange rate alters it makes no difference to your invoice amount.
Omex operates an open book policy that ensures full clarity of prices and costs between manufacturer and you. We will discuss more fully with you as necessary.
The Chinese manufacturer will send as many representative samples as you need for you to check and sign off. He will hold production until you agree that they are in line with your agreed specification.
In addition, our team members on the ground in China will regularly inspect production and ensure quality standards are being adhered to in accordance with your specification.
At the end of the run the manufacturer will send the final samples for approval and we can then authorise the loading of the container and advise you of the delivery date, which is usually 25 days after loading.
Manufacture of the goods, all quality control and assurance, all sampling and delivery of samples by air-courier, storing in China, arranging of a container, loading the container, delivery to a UK port, customs clearance at each end and all insurance. We supply you with Bills of Lading and all other necessary documentation.
You are responsible for the transport of the goods from the UK port to your warehouse but we usually arrange this and invoice our customers separately.
We do not disclose any information to any other company or individual.
We sign confidentiality agreements with all our customers.
Usually we ask for 25,000 USD
All the companies we use in China are accredited with ISO 9000 and some also have the Environmental qualification of ISO 14000. Assessments have been carried out by Internal Auditors in China; and, as more goods are sold to the West, they have also been audited by Western organizations such as Henkel and DOW Corning.
Yes. We are currently importing into France and have started negotiations with the Netherlands and Sweden.
We are looking to open other offices in other countries.
We have full artwork facilities in our Guangzhou offices.
We have a 10,000 sq. m warehouse.
Our manufacturing sources currently supply all local and national specialist stores and supermarkets. Ask for details and we will sit down and discuss where we can offer introduction facilities.
If you are a valued customer we will invite you as guest. Otherwise you will have to pay your own way. However we can make all arrangements for you and book flights and hotels.
Omex attends the Trade shows that are held in autumn and spring.
We will gladly escort you ourselves or with our bilingual staff from Guangzhou. (This is becoming very popular! Let us know in good time)
A five day all inclusive visit is about £2,000 or so.
Omex commenced trading in 1996 by importing specialist filling machinery, but, received that many enquiries about sourcing components and finished goods that we now specialize in that area. Although we still do import filling machinery.
Items that we copy exactly are those that a manufacturer currently sources in Europe but needs a cheaper price. Omex will not knowingly copy an existing product that is obviously another company’s brand. For example, the items we can copy easily are; computer keyboards, standard bottles and caps, bathroom taps. Please note as mentioned earlier, there are many products available in the Chinese market place that will easily transfer over to Europe.
Delivered prices are generally 30% to 50% cheaper than those items sourced in Europe.
Omex-Europe buys from Omex-Global who are based in Guangzhou, China and Omex-Global are a Chinese based company. This means that a Chinese company is buying from a Chinese manufacturing company. It is possible for a UK company to purchase goods from a Chinese manufacturer but you would have to visit China and arrange purchasing contracts, container loading, reserve spaces on shipping lines, transfer money, manage quality assurance, etc. The choice is yours.
At the moment there is import duty on all goods delivered into the UK from China. This is variable from about 3% to 7%.
And finally, we have been around for 10 years and our growth plan is to keep on going and going and going.
To do that we need good repeat customers who tell their friends.
That’s where you come in!
